Studio walls are a perfect way to add some key character to your happy space.
Plus, they’re excuse from commitment fear to not have to decide on just one loved art print. The stipulation? With so many moving things, it’s easy to either run out of space or money before you know it. Here, Artist Prachi Manerikar of www.lelittleelephant.com shares her simple tips to making a cute studio wall with a tiny budget.
- Choose Your Art
When shaping a cute studio wall, first think of the space you’re designing it for. The wall next to my desk was very much in need for art, and I wanted to fill it with motivational quotes to boost my day long work, cute illustrations for joy and beautiful art prints to inspire me while I’m focusing on creating new designs for my category. Once you have an idea of the type of art you want, start your search! Choose & Pick art prints in a variety of sizes that work together colour wise. Not necessarily have to match completely, but choosing art prints that follows a theme in terms of colour palette makes for a unified, eye-catching design.
- Blend Different décor
Who says a studio wall is for art prints only? Have fun blending other decor into your design! These can be things you already own, such as a poster, antique showpieces, handicraft items & wall hangings. Anything that ignites happiness & brings smile on your cute face.
- Plan Your Placement
If you’re stunned on where to start, divide the wall up into sections top, middle and bottom. Planning for prints each section can make the design procedure much easier. While it’s a good idea to get a sense of where you’d like to hang everything, don’t get too engrossed in the spacing and dimensions. I mostly examine it! Hold your art prints up to the wall to get a feel for how they might look you can even lay them out on your floor to see how everything vibes together before hanging.
- Hang It
Give up on the routine framing and instead start using things like magnetic wooden hangers and reversible tape. Keep things low maintenance by using clear push pins instead of a hammer and nails for hanging wall décor. A simple string of jute twine creates the perfect place to display pics, postcards or mini art prints, all held up by cute pins. For your larger art prints, apply double sided tape to the back of each corner and stick them to your wall. If placement looks a bit off, just adjust as you see fit.
Use colours that complement the art, and create your own little design with the tape to give it a frame-like illusion.
- Applaud Your Work
You did it! Give yourself a clap and experience your freshly decorated studio space!
